​Blair Childs has been at the center of policy issues in Washington, D.C. for four decades, playing a leading role on healthcare issues impacting hospitals and health systems, providers, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and insurers. Most recently Childs served on the executive team for Premier, Inc. He previously held leadership roles in trade and advocacy associations, his own businesses, and Aetna.  He is currently President and CEO of Childs and Associates, LLC. Childs has spent his professional life:
  • Understanding how Washington works and successfully shaping healthcare policy.
  • Gaining a deep, firsthand understanding of the major issues impacting healthcare’s future.
  • Synthesizing these policy developments to help people understand the trends shaping the US healthcare system. 
Childs has been a respected influencer having run some of the nation’s most high profile and successful public policy campaigns in US history, including:
  • Establishing value-based purchasing within Medicare as part of the Affordable Care Act.
  • Enacting the law establishing the Medicare Advantage program.
  • Forcing interoperability in electronic medical record systems.
  • Organizing a coalition of manufacturers, GPOs, and distributors that worked alongside the Trump administration to overcome supply chain problems during the COVID-19 pandemic. 
  • Creating an FDA user fee and faster reimbursement system for breakthrough technology.
  • Leading the national coalition educating American’s on the implications of the Clinton Healthcare Reform plan that led to tabling the plan.
  • Leading the national tort reform movement that achieved reform in 41 states.
Childs has been invited to speak before hundreds of organizations and conferences to help executives decipher the trends and outlook shaping America’s healthcare system.  In addition, he has appeared on and been quoted in virtually all major national publications and networks, including ABC, PBS, NBC, Politico, Inside Health Policy, Axios, among others.
